My Personal Testimony
I was blessed to have grown up in a Christian home. I grew up going to Sunday School, learned all the Bible songs, and was blessed to have a solid Christian foundation. A month after my sixth birthday, I asked Jesus to be my Savior. I finally understood and knew that Jesus had died for my sins and that He rose again. John 3:16, which states “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” explained everything. God sent His only Son to die for the sins of the world. As a result, we are able to accept that gift of salvation, so that we could spend eternity with Him. As a child, it was very simple to understand. I thank the Lord for Christian parents who showed me the truth and the light of the Savior.
Through the years, God has shown me so many things and has taught me several life lessons. He has shown me that He is faithful, even when we've been hurt by others. He will never let us down. God has proved over and over that knows my future. While I may not know or understand the circumstances, God does and is constantly molding and using those for good. God has shown and extended His mercy and grace to me over and over. God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good.
My Verse for the Year
Some people do New Years Resolutions. Others do the Word of the Year. I've decided to do a "Verse of the Year" to focus on. The idea came to me by accident during the middle of 2015 as I was going through a spiritual battle of sorts. I needed to shift my focus and trust the Lord. To do that I found a sticky note and wrote out Jude 22 which states "And of some have compassion, making a difference." I placed that sticky note on my desk so that I would see it daily and focus on having compassion for those who were making my life miserable at the time. I only meant for that sticky note to stay for a few weeks, but weeks turned into months, which turned into almost a year and a half. While I no longer needed it to fight a battle, I needed that reminder to have compassion on others.
My verse for 2017 is Romans 8:6 - For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
This year, my goal is to show the joy of the Lord and I pray that His joy radiates through me. I want to focus on seeking joy in all situations. My prayer this year is that I keep my focus on Him and that I grow spiritually as a Christian.
